The Easiest Cookies You Will Ever Make

Short on time?  Feeling pressure to show up to the kiddos school party with something homemade?  Believe it or not, I rarely send decorated cookies to school.  More often than not, my kiddos get these.  Can you believe they’re straight out of a box?

That’s right!  Call me lazy, but I’ve watched hours  of work devoured in minutes enough to learn, when it comes to kids, this is the way to go.

All you need are a devil’s food cake mix, butter, a few eggs, and a little flour for homemade cookies in a snap.

I bake them on a Silpat and use a cookie scoop to make them pretty and uniform.

A few minutes in the oven and VIOLA!  Perfect, chewy, chocolately, goodness.

You can dress them up even more by rolling them in pretty sprinkles {before baking}, because sprinkles make EVERYTHING better, right?

These particular sprinkles can be purchased from the friendly folks over at Shop Baker’s Nook by clicking HERE.

Send these to school, work, or whatever.  If you do, everyone will love you.  They’ll ask for the recipe too.  No one will believe they came from a mix.

If you’re feeling frisky, try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon and half a teaspoon of chili powder for a quick version of Martha Stewart’s Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies.  You can also use other flavors.  We especially like cherry chip.

You probably won’t need it, but here’s the recipe just in case…

Easy Cake Mix Cookies

Easy Cake Mix Cookies

  • 1 boxed cake mix {I used Duncan Hines devil’s food}
  • 1/2 cup {1 stick} unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1-2 tsp. vanilla or other flavoring {optional}

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Use a cookie scoop drop evenly sized potions of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets {or Silpat if possible} and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Let cool on the sheet for at least ten minutes.
  2. Makes 2.5 dozen

Never slink into another party with a plastic box of cookies under your coat.  These are just as easy, and it’s a good feeling telling everyone you made them.  Trust me on this one.

Oh yes, and if you like a little peanut butter to go with your chocolate, try Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies from my friend Shelly over at Cookies and Cups.

I’ve been shopping, so I will see y’all soon with some new fun finds.

Have a great weekend, eveyone!
