Decorated Rose Cookies

Believe it or not, I have never been a rose kind of girl.  It’s always bothered me that something so expensive dies in just a few days.  That doesn’t mean I’m not a romantic, I just prefer gifts that last a little longer…or at least taste good.

Decorated Rose Bud CookieI really like these cookies because they were inspired by a paper bouquet my little boy made for me.

Simple RoseWhen I looked at the rose, I immediately saw a bell.  The longer I thought about it, I saw even more cutters that would work.

Rose Bud Cookie CutterChances are, you already own the perfect cutter. Use them as is, or customize them by trimming and adding leaves.

Rose Cookies 1To make these cookies you will need:

  • Piping and 20-second icing in the color of your choice for roses
  • Green piping and 20-second icing
  • Sanding sugar {optional}

Begin by flooding the rose with 20-second icing.  If you added leaves wait a bit then flood them also.  Let the base completely dry.

Rose Bud Cookies 2Once the base is dry, pipe the swirl with a #2 tip.  Begin at the bottom and pipe up toward the top, finishing with a swirl.  Immediately sprinkle with coordinating sanding sugar.

Valentine's Rose CookiesFinish up with a little leaf detail if desired.

Rose CookieEach one of these cutters makes a convincing rose.  I think my favorite are is the tulip and trimmed egg.  What’s yours?

Rose Cookies 2Rose cookies look wonderful in coordinating colors.  Add sticks to create an adorable cookie bouquet.  The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.

    Love these, Callye! I have been drawing roses like this for years, but never thought to cookie them this way! Very clever and beautiful! The tulip is definitely my favorite. Where did you get your green plastic two-leaf cutter?
