To make it easier to instantly find the exact cutter shape:

- Keep a three ring binder organized by bin and tabbed organizing sheets. (Avery [product #11151] has an “A-Z Tab Customizable Table of Contents Dividers” that has 26 tabs at a glance (or you could modify and number them instead).

- Within each bin grouping, multiple sub-categories could be made if desired, by cropping the internal dividers a quarter to a half inch (depending the width of paper you’ll be use to trace your cutter designs) and adding your own tabs to those sheets.

- As cookie cutters are accumulated, trace each cutter onto plain white paper, and organize within the desired tab/bin# for instant at a glance size comparison and cross- reference.

- There are also 3 ring notebook dividers with pockets that can hold any current or future project notes, which can be moved around the notebook as needed, and found by tabbing at the top or bottom (depending on how many projects at a time there are) for instant access to all current cutters. This will also make returning the cutters to the bins a breeze.

- In the case of multiple needed cutters, sticky note flags organized by color per project could also be handy.

Thank you for being such an inspiration and for the wealth of information you share to all. Have a lovely day.

I think it's interesting to note that you describe that the majority of your collection has been collected in the last four years. It makes me feel better about my collection which actually includes cookie cutters from my whole life... My mom started it and I have been buying cutters for as long as I remember. I think my parents would both encourage me to pick shapes as either a treat for me or a treasure to give my mom as a stocking stuffer. My stash is binned in seasons with the one exception being heart shapes. I have multiple hearts to the point I could host a cookie making party!

I organize my cookie cutters the same way. I also made a (document) list of all my cutters organized by type. I never put a new one away until I’ve updated my list. Great site, I’m enjoying it very much.
