Cute Baseball Bat Cookies
Over the years I’ve made many baseball-themed cookies, but it’s always bothered me that the common bat cutter isn’t proportionate to the rest of the shapes. Luckily I have generous and creative friends like Natalie, of Palestine Painted Cookie who shared this idea for a “fat baseball bat” cookie. I love it so much I may never use my old baseball bat cutter again!
I followed Natalie’s advice and used a milk bottle cutter for this design but if you don’t have one on hand a necktie would work well also.
Create a baseball bat shape by trimming the corners with a sharp knife.
Use your fingers to round off any sharp corners.
To decorate these cookies you will need:
- Brown piping and flood icing
- Red piping and flood icing
- Dark brown piping icing
Begin by outlining the photos as pictured below.
Flood the sections, waiting a few minutes for each color to dry before moving to the next one. You might also notice that I had a rather bubbly batch of icing this time around. Since I knew that I’d eventually add wood grain, I decided to skip stressing and cover them with a few finishing details. It’s a simple solution, but definitely one to remember. Bubbles happen.
Anywho, finish up by adding the woodgrain and handle detail {#1.5 and #2 tips, in that order}.
Cute and chubby baseball bats are adorable mixed with other baseball-themed cookies.
Stay tuned because my plan for June is to focus on perfect cookies WITHOUT a Kopykake. Don’t be surprised to see another cookie in the set VERY soon.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
