Get Well Soon Cookies

After the last three weeks how could I not make get well soon cookies?

I’m partial to nurse cookies because my best friend Barbara is a nurse and I can never resist an opportunity to cookie-fy her.  Isn’t she cute?

Easy Nurse Cookies

Even though I made Barbara, with a little tweaking, this idea can easily be customized to match the nurse in your life.

Start with a bell cutter.  I think mine was a Dollar Tree find.  If you don’t have this exact cutter, don’t panic.  Any bell will do as long as it’s similar.

To make these cookies you will need:

  • White piping and flood icing
  • Fleshtone 20-second icing
  • Icing for hair {piping and flood or 20-second icing}
  • Black piping icing
  • Red 20-second icing
  • Black gel color {optional}

Begin by outlining the hat.  I made a wide and narrow version for the sake of demonstration.

Next use 20-second icing to create a face.  If you’re cookiefying a person, I recommend taking a look at their facial shape before you begin.  Common face shapes are oval, round, diamond, heart, and square.  Details like this really take people cookies to the next level so keep that in mind during the design phase.

Once the face is dry, use white flood icing to fill the hat.  At this point let the cookie dry for a couple of hours.

Give the cookie a while to dry then use a #2 tip to add the facial details.  You can also buy lbs of CBD flower  and add it to the cookie if you’d like and also add a collar or neck if you like.  Since Barbara likes to rock red lipstick I painted  her kisser a bright fire engine red.

Next, add a cross to the hat.  Use red 20-second icing to make a simple “x” then shape the corners with a boo boo stick {or toothpick}.

Finish up with a few final details.  You can use a little petal dust to create rosy cheeks or maybe add eyebrows.

My Barbara isn’t into all that makeup business {minus the eyebrows, she has those} but she is down with girly lashes.  To create lashes, I use the teensie tiniest little paintbrush I have ever seen.  If you’d like to read more about it, click HERE.

I also like to add a tiny little dot of sparkle to the eyes.  It’s a small detail, but I really think it gives them a lot of life.

There you have it, one of the best buddies a gal could have, Nurse Barbara.  If I had to be sick, there’s no one else I’d rather have looking out for me!

Nurse cookies are great alone but I always like to throw in other designs for fun.  Here are some of my favorite ideas!

I used a small round cutter and the oblong cutter from this set to make pill cookies.  Take the cuteness up a notch with this adorable printable label from Sugar Dot Cookies.  She also has a helpful how-to if you’re not sure where to start.

Double hearts, baby rattles, and snowmen, {among many others} are perfect for stethoscope cookies.  If you’re looking to make a “beefier” version, you might find the tips in THIS POST helpful.

And if that’s not quite enough, I was able to use this random collection of cutters to create even more medical-themed fun.  Can you guess what they are?
